Besides prawns I had nothing in my freezer.
Was in no mood to make rice n chapati separately for any gravy base dish..
Weekend I prefer one pot meal…So opted for Prawn pulao
500 gms Prawns
3 cups Basmati Rice
7-8 green chilies
9-10 curry leaves
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp cumin seeds
6-7 black pepper
1 stick cinnamon
3 tbsp oil
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
salt To Taste
Shell, de-vein and wash prawns thoroughly,marinate with turmeric and salt; keep aside.
Make paste of ginger garlic and green chilies.
Heat oil and heat whole garam masala, cumin seeds and curry leaves and let them crackle add sliced onions; when brown add chopped tomatoes and the paste of green chilies and ginger garlic let them cook for 5 minutes on medium heat, then add prawns and let it cook for couple of minutes then add soaked rice and fry.
Add coconut milk,turmeric , garam masala powder, salt and enough hot water
Cook rice .When water has been absorbed lower the heat and cover and cook on very low heat for another 10 minutes.
Serve hot with raita.
