4 medium size Karela
1 tsp Oil
2 tbsp besan
1 tsp Chili powder
1/4 tsp turmeric
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp fennel seeds
1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
1 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
1 tsp amchur powder
1 pinch hing
2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
Wash and lightly scrape the karela. Give a slit and remove all the seeds from inside and discard them. Generously apply salt on the Karela and keep it aside for 1 hour.
Preheat the air fryer at 180 degrees C for about 5 minutes.
Wash the salted Karela under running water. Gently squeeze the karela to remove all water, pat dry Karela with kitchen towel.
Season the Karela with salt and oil and place them in air fryer basket and let them cook go 5-6 minutes, turn it once in between.
While the empty shells of Karela is cooking, we will prepare the stuffing.
Heat a wok add oil and crackle cumin and fennel seeds. Add finely chopped onion, ginger and garlic paste and hing and fry until onion is light golden in colour.
Then add turmeric, Red chili powder and besan and roast until the besan is cooked and nice aroma of roasted besan comes.
Then season the stuffing with amchur and salt and mix well. Add chopped coriander leaves. Keep it aside for stuffing.
Remove the air fried Karela from basket and with help if spoon stuffing these Karela. No need to tie with thread as the filing won’t come out. Smear the remaining stuffing on top of Karela as well.
Carefully place the stuffed Karela onto the basket and cook them for another 5 min till they become light brown and crispy.
Serve Bharwa Karela with hot chapati.
