We Asian are very fond of our bread, those we don’t use yeast much in our bread. The variety is countless, roti, chapati, paratha, nan and puris.
Today I will be sharing with you a simple Roti flavoured with herbs and spices, called Missi Roti.
This roti is very common in the northern part of India. Some call it paratha as well. As we use oil/ghee while cooking it. I normally give this roti in breakfast along with yoghurt and pickle. But like any kid, my daughters refers it Nutella.
I had cooked Palak Mushroom Malai the other day, instead of making plain paratha I decided to make missi roti to serve with it. It is a perfect dish for your little ones snack box in school.
.
Ingredients:
2 cup Whole Wheat Flour
1 cup Gram Flour
1 tbsp Kasuri Methi
1/2tsp Red Chili Powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp crushed garlic
2 tsp coriander leaves
1 Onion finely chopped
1/2 tsp carrom (ajwain)
Salt as per taste
Ghee/oil for cooking
Method:
Mix all the ingredients and make a soft dough by adding a little water at a time. Don’t make it wet. Thoroughly knead the dough like we do for rotis and let it rest for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, add 2 tbsp oil and knead again. With the help of some dry flour make small balls out of this dough.
Roll out rotis from these balls. Cook it on tava when almost cooked smear little ghee/ oil and tava fry it until it gets golden colour on both the sides.Serve with Dahi, achar or any sabji. I am sure kids will love with Nutella as well 😃

I always prefer flavoured or stuffed Rotis / Parathas than the regular ones. And this looks super delicious and no side dish required for me to finish off these yummy Roti 🙂

We Indians are proud of our varieties of rotis. This is my favourite also. I add few more flours to it to make it more nutritious in one serving. Yes Perfect for the breakfast or lunch box. It must have tasted good with that curry.
