I love Coffee ❤️
The taste, the aroma and freshness… everything. I have tried and incorporated the flavor of coffee in my bakes, but never have i used it in any savory dishes.
Recently I was watching Food Network channel ( BTW its my favorite channel, never get bored of it ) in that i saw a program on BBQ. In that i saw in one of the chef added coffee in his marinade and I really got excited that i had to tried it.
Though i was not very keen to following the exact recipe. So i tweaked the recipe according to my taste. In original recipe there was soya sauce and sugar, but some how i just can’t add sugar to my meats. ( call me old fashion)
I decided to try the marinade on small quantity as i was not sure to get the approval from my husband and daughter. I just took two pieces of chicken breast and cut into strips.
The marinade was so aromatic, i could just keep it as room freshener 😂😂
Finally i grilled the chicken and waited for the verdict… and i am thrilled to say it passed. After grilling the coffee flavor is not very prominent but gives background earthiness to the dish. I just loved it.
Ingredients:
6 chicken strips
1/2 tsp dry garlic herbs
Salt to taste
4 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 chili flakes
1 tsp coffee granules
Method:
Cut 2 chicken breast into 6 long strips.
In a bowl add all the marinade ingredients along with 2 tbsp of olive oil, and mix well. Add chicken strips to the marinade.
Rub in the marinade well on the chicken pieces. Cover with cling film and let it marinate for 4 hours in refrigerator.
Heat the grill pan over medium heat and add remaining two tbsp of oil and let it get oil. Carefully place the marinated chicken on the pan and let it cook. When done on one side flip it to other side.
When the chicken is cooked. Remove from the pan on to the place and cover with aluminum foil and let it rest for 5 minutes. This will seal all the juices inside.
Serve with fresh salad and mayo on the side

I really enjoyed the chicken. Next time definitely i am making bigger batch. I feel it will make excellent filing for tacos and pita bread sandwich as well.
You always just have the best recipes. I can’t wait to try this chili rub grilled chicken recipe.

Michelle boiling the chicken would taste would change. I had cut the chicken breast in thin strips as you can see in the video, this will help the chicken to cook fast without burning the spices.
