Dal tadka

If ask you which is your favorite lentil (dal) what it will be??

For me it will be Tur Dal (split pigeon pea) its one of my favorite dal. Just a simple Dal Tadka, make with simple ingredients available easily in your kitchen pantry.

With this dal I don’t even need any sabzi, just a bowl full of steamed rice and I are good to go.

1/2 cup tur dal
3 green chilies
1/4 tsp turmeric
salt to taste
1 tsp ghee

Ingredients for tadka
1 tbsp ghee
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp chopped garlic
1 small onion
1 tomato
2 button red chilies
A pinch of thing
Chopped coriander leaves

Boil dal in pressure with haldi, salt, ghee, green chilies, and salt, until it’s cooked.
In a separate pan heat ghee, and add the mustard seed and cumin seeds. Let them splutter. Add chopped garlic, followed by hing.
Then chopped onion once it’s translucent add chopped tomato and let it cook until the ghee separates.

Dal tadka

Pour the dal on top of the tadka. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Mix well served with steamed rice or chapati.
